Sue’s practice is driven by the way art helps us to better understand the world, how it is able to form meaning and re-frame experience, and how it can be used as a tool for healing and connection.

Sue has experience working with adults who have struggled with a diverse range of mental health issues and has had extensive experience working with incarcerated populations within forensic mental health settings in both Australia and the UK. Sue has worked within multidisciplinary teams and her experience also extends to community mental health.

Sue's approach is trauma-informed, where creating safety is at the core of creative expression. Sue also has a background as a mental health Occupational Therapist which adds an additional lens to her practice as an Art Therapist.

People who have worked with Sue have described feeling safe enough to explore challenging topics, while also being able to connect in a playful manner. They have also noted Sue's ability to hold space with curiosity and without judgement, further allowing spaciousness to consider paths not yet taken within their therapy.
